Why can't I buy a Playboy on campus?

College newspaper, 1998.

It was a question my editor threw at me from nowhere. My assignment for the next day's paper. Four hours later, I filed this report.

It contains the answer to his question, insight into bookstore management and purchasing decisions, the opinions of eight students from diverse backgrounds, comments from the off-campus competition, and the words "skin fix." All because we needed to fill a hole. (Ha ha.)

That daily scramble to get things done is what I remember about my college days. I also recall my professor pulling me into his office. This article was on his desk. "You had time to write all this, but you couldn't turn in the rough draft of your four-page paper." I thought, who has time for a rough draft? Give me a deadline, I won't let you down.
